DUY - WMCFW Fall 2013

After winning Mercedes-Benz Start Up last season at WMCFW, DUY has not only had the opportunity to work with some of the industries elite, he was also awarded with a solo presentation of his Fall 2013 Collection at this season's World MasterCard Fashion Week.  Not knowing what to expect from such a novice Canadian Designer it was a pleasant surprise to thoroughly enjoy the collection from the first look to strut down the runway.  Having used the Canadian Winter as his influence, Duy named his collection "The Northern Oracle".  He described his collection as "arctic nature is quiet, powerful and magnificent.  An icy and mystical atmosphere is shown throughout the collection" in the show's notes.  The men's inspired collection featured neckline embellishments: origami and feathers, dropped shoulders, chunky knit sweaters and scarves, leather and fabric combos, fur trims, and an array of fabrics: leather, wool, tweed, fur, knit, cotton, silk, and tulle.  The collection took us on a fashion journey which I could have gone on again and again.
